Grand Theft AUto V

Grand Theft Auto V Has Now Sold 160 Million Copies Which Is More Than Most Entire Gaming Franchises

Take Two has today released updated sales numbers and the one that absolutely stands out is Grand Theft Auto V. The game sold 5 million units in the last quarter and has now reached 160 million units sold since its original release on PS3/Xbox One. This is ahead of its March 15th release on PS5/Xbox Series X where it will no doubt go on to sell millions of more copies.

To put it into perspective, Grand Theft Auto V on its own has now sold more than some entire popular gaming franchises including Assassin’s Creed (155 million units), Resident Evil (123 million units) and on par with other franchises such as Final Fantasy (164 million units).

Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy Definitive Edition also sold roughly 10 million units despite having some clear issues at launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 has also reached 43 million units which is nothing to sneeze at either.

It’s very clear at this point that Grand Theft Auto is set to continue selling insane numbers. I’d suspect that Grand Theft Auto V will push towards 200 million units by the time all is said and done.
