Luminous Productions, the studio behind the recent open-world action RPG, Forspoken, is being absorbed into Square Enix.
The announcement was made via a graphic shared to social media, announcing the change as well as confirming that the team will still remain entirely focused on support Forspoken with game updates to address performance issues as well as an upcoming DLC.
The change will be taking effect as of May 1st, 2023.

You may have heard the news that Luminous Productions is merging with Square Enix. Beginning on May 1, our talented team will join Square Enix to deliver new, innovative gaming experiences to players across the globe.
Between now and then we remain entirely focused on “Forspoken”. We are currently working on the previously announced patch to address overall game performance (we will deliver an update soon) and the DLC, “In Tanta We Trust”, is on track for release this summer. Forspoken released this year on January 24th and has reportedly not performed as well as initially hoped.
We enjoyed the game, scoring it a 7.5/10 in our review and saying, “Forspoken offers a unique and thrilling experience with its impressive combat and smooth traversal mechanics. The story and open world may fall victim to the pitfalls of its genre and the largely formulaic side quest design only shines occasionally, but it’s an overall satisfying and well-crafted action RPG with fast-paced and energetic gameplay.”
