Zack Snyder Is Making A “Ridiculous Scale” RPG Based On His New Sci-Fi Film

Zack Snyder, fan of stupidly-long films, is reportedly working on a stupidly-long RPG based on his upcoming sci-fi film, Rebel Moon.

Speaking on The Nerd Queens podcast, Snyder mentioned the as-yet completely unannounced game during a discussion around the film as well as his upcoming DCEU screening event, Full Circle:

“I mean the one thing that I’m really having a really good time with is, and I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about it, but this RPG that we’re doing that is just literally insane, and so immersive, and so intense, and so huge. We talked about how we would do the game and I was like, we just said let’s go” said Snyder.

“Because I’ve always wanted to do an RPG but they were like, we can do it at this scale, and this scale – or we can do it at like, ridiculous scale. I was like, well, ridiculous scale is clearly the scale that we’re doing it at. And they were like well it’s gonna take so much time because… we’ve gotta do all these brain dumps, you’ve gotta tell us everything in the universe, what’s happening… and I was like, that’s fine, happy to do it, let’s go all the way.”

Snyder says the RPG, for which he didn’t name or reveal anything to do with publishing, platforms or any other concrete info, is part of a larger Rebel Moon universe in the making.

The Rebel Moon film is being developed in conjunction with Netflix and will debut on the service in December this year. It’s reportedly inspired by the works of Akira Kurosawa and the Star Wars films, and already has at least one sequel planned.

“A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The desperate civilians dispatch Kora, a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent.”
