Magic: The Gathering Has Announced A Bunch Of New Collabs Including Fallout And Final Fantasy

FFVIII had people drawing magic before it was cool.

Over the weekend at this year’s GenCon – the US’ largest tabletop gaming convention – Wizards of the Coast were on hand to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the mammoth tabletop and digital collectible card game, Magic: The Gathering, with some very special announcements.

WotC not only gave Magic fans a look at what’s to come to the game in traditional new sets for the year ahead, but also revealed some very exciting collaboration releases coming to its Universes Beyond series. Having already brought us some incredible collabs with the likes of Lord of the Rings, Transformers and Warhammer 40K, and with Doctor Who and Jurassic World on the way, 2024 and beyond is set to bring us some more juicy crossovers that’ll be especially exciting for MtG fans who are also gamers.

Set to launch in 2024 are both Fallout and Assassin’s Creed sets, while all the way in 2025 we’ll see a Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy set – in itself quite an interesting proposition given that Final Fantasy already has its own, official collectible card game out there.

No real details have been revealed about these sets in terms of cards or release structure, but if they’re even half as exciting as the recent Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth release has been with Magic collectors clamouring to find the very special 1-of-1 The One Ring card before it was found and subsequently sold to none other than Post Malone, it should be a fun couple of years ahead for Magic: The Gathering.
