After being announced earlier in the year, we’ve finally gotten our first proper look at the animated Scott Pilgrim series coming to Netflix thanks to the first proper trailer, which also brings it with the show’s title and release date.
Dubbed Scott Pilgram Takes Off, the series is set to debut on Netflix on November 17th, and once again tells the story of the titular Scott Pilgrim doing battle against the seven evil exes of his new crush, Ramona Flowers. It’s seemingly both an adaptation of the original comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley, who acts as writer and executive producer on the show, as well as the 2010 Edgar Wright film – with the movie’s cast including Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Brie Larson, Kieran Culkin, Aubrey Plaza and more all returning to voice their characters and Wright himself sharing executive producer duties.
The show looks cool as hell, as well, crafted by anime studio Science Saru – which brought us the excellent Devilman Crybaby among other iconic productions. It’s got all the hallmarks of what made the film adaptation great, and the comics, while naturally setting up a killer soundtrack and hyper-energetic visuals.
