Although it did accidentally slip ahead of time, Ubisoft has now officially revealed the release date for Star Wars Outlaws, its new and hugely anticipated open-world title from Ubisoft Massive.
The game’s new Story Trailer not only reveals the launch date of August 30th, 2024, but Ubisoft has also unveiled the various editions the game will come in, including its physical versions. With various retailers like EB Games and JB Hi-Fi already opening up pre-orders, something that’s immediately come to eager players’ attentions is the requirement for players’ consoles to be connected to the internet in order to install the game.
While the reasons aren’t clear, as what we have to go off is the badge on the front of the box, it’s likely either a case of a mandatory day one patch similar to what happened in Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora last year, or that not all of the game’s data being stored on the disc and therefore additional downloads being necessary to install it.
Either way, while it’s probably not going to be a concern for most players, it’s going to be important information for the rare few who don’t have reliable internet access or are concerned about preservation and being able to play this game in a far future situation where the fate of things like digital storefronts and servers aren’t a guarantee.
Star Wars Outlaws is launching on August 30th, putting players in the shoes of the cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess, as she navigates the seedy underworld of The Outer Rim and hunts a prize that will lead her to freedom while being hunted herself.
