Pokémon Opened An Official Forum And It’s Going About As Well As You’d Expect

Can't un-Bulba-see what I just Bulba-saw.

The Pokémon Company has recently opened the doors on an official community forum for the franchise accessible via the Pokémon website, and it’s… not going well.

While the idea of a dedicated, official forum for fans to discuss all things Pokémon from the games to the Pokémon TCG, tournaments and everything in-between seems like a genuinely good idea (and I’m kind of surprised this didn’t exist before?) it’s currently more than a little chaotic.

It seems as though moderation from those in charge is struggling to keep up with users as the forum is currently flooded with troll posts ranging from odd to overtly sexual or offensive in nature. A large number of posts are from users professing their romantic attraction to certain Pokémon or human characters, others pontificating on which Pokémon would be responsible for certain tragedies of our lifetime.

Some titles I’ve seen in just tabbing through a couple of pages in the forum have been things like “Do you think Pokémon breastfeed” or “How do I beat Tsareena when I keep getting distracted by her feet??????” or one simple plea for help titled “where are the mods.”

I stupidly clicked through to one post that was simply titled “which pokemon is the best at filing taxes” thinking I might actually get a chuckle out of the suggestions, but was instead greeted with:

Hopefully the plague of Poké-trolls it’s something that The Pokémon Company can get under control, so that fans can continue having meaningful and constructive conversations on their shiny, new official forum. There are, of course, a set of community rules and guidelines in place but these are obviously not being observed or enforced in the way they should be so far.

For what it’s worth, it mainly seems to be the General Discussion area of the forums that’s struggling at the moment, with the more specific channels discussing things like the Pokémon Trading Card Game or Pokémon Unite seemingly a little safer to browse.
