Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Sequel Could Be Revealed Soon As Infinity Ward’s Socials Go Dark

An official reveal of Infinity Ward’s successor to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare could be imminent after the developer has gone dark on its social media channels.

After switching out its profile picture and banner to images that, at first glance, appeared to be entirely blacked out, a prominent Call of Duty fan account Charlie Intel noticed something curious about the image after increasing the brightness.

Long-time fans of the series might notice the skull-faced silhouette of fan-favourite character Simon “Ghost” Riley, who first appeared in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but has since appeared in post-launch content for Modern Warfare.

While Activision has confirmed since that this year’s Call of Duty will indeed be a sequel to 2019’s soft reboot of the Modern Warfare saga, rumours circulated last year that the title might revolve around the U.S. Special Forces and their struggle against Colombian drug cartels.

Obviously, we’d be chuffed to see Ghost play a big role in the next game’s campaign, but we’ll have to wait and see when the game is officially revealed.
