SEGA’s Hero Shooter HYENAS Is Getting A Closed Beta This Month

Laughing all the way to the bank.

HYENAS, the hero-based multiplayer extraction shooter where players compete to steal pop culture memorabilia (that’s the actual premise) is a game that seemingly keeps dropping off of the radar, but SEGA has announced that it’s bringing it back to Gamescom this year and with the opportunity for the public to get hands-on with the game at the show. It’ll be featured in Hall 8 at the Koelnmesse from August 23rd to 27th.

For everyone not casually showing up to Cologne, Germany next week though, the good news is that the game’s first proper Closed Beta is set to kick off very soon after on August 31st, and will run for a good chunk of time through to September 11th.

The Closed Beta for HYENAS will feature eight playable specialists and one of the game’s massive Plundership maps, Earth Vintage. If you’re keen to check it out, you can register your interest on Steam right here.

SEGA also dropped a fresh new gameplay trailer for the game, which you can check out below:

“HYENAS is a hero-based, multiplayer extraction shooter. Choose a Hyena to play as – each with their own unique weapon, ability, and personality – to form a crew of three and steal valuable Merch. The action takes place on vast, themed ‘Plunderships’ returning to Mars from Earth, loaded with salvaged Merch for you and your crew to steal.

“Competing with four other raiding crews, your goal is to find and crack secured vaults, then steal enough Merch to make your escape. Standing in your way are not only rival players but also the “MURFs” – security forces who will fight to the death to protect the precious cargo.”

HYENAS will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Windows and Mac and is available to wishlist now on Steam.
