Death Stranding’s Spooky Monster Summoning Baddie Will Be Played By Troy Baker

The Tokyo Game Show is currently underway over in Japan, the home of video game royalty and auteur Hideo Kojima, who has taken the opportunity to show off a new trailer, revealing Troy Baker as a seriously sinister baddie that protagonist, Norman Reedus, will have to face. If you’d have thought the new trailer and revelation of an antagonist would help us make any more sense of the game, you’d be sorely mistaken, but see if you can make any sense of it below.

Troy Baker is, of course, the prolific voice actor famous for having played Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, and Two-Face in Batman: Arkham Knight, amongst others. He is widely regarded as being one of the best talents in the business and it subsequently, a very welcome addition to what is a stellar cast in Death Stranding, which already includes Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Mads Mikkelsen, Emmy Award-winning actress Lindsay Wagner and Academy Award-Winning director, Guillermo del Toro.

The bad guy Baker plays, named simply as the Man in the Golden Mask, oozes the actor’s charisma, his sinister, almost Southern drawl send a shiver down my spine. If his performance isn’t creepy enough, the ghoulish, demon-like monster he summons sure is. If it is anything to go by, it looks like Death Stranding may have some Souls-like boss battles with nightmarish creatures, which would, of course, be a very good thing.
