Chalk this one up to today’s Cutest Gaming News – eagle-eyed fans have spotted Henry Cavill’s dog, Kal, in the latest version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, just released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
This comes right after Cavill has been sadly dropped from both Netflix’s The Witcher series and the role of Superman in DC Comics’ future films.
On top of visual and gameplay updates, CD Projekt RED also included some new quest content in their free, new-gen update to the game, and one of those quests in particular (The Eternal Fire’s Shadow) contains the surprise pup cameo in its “good” ending. While the in-game model isn’t quite the same as Cavill’s Kal, the name is an unmistakable nod.
The studio’s Lead Quest Designer, Philipp Weber, confirmed the reference on Twitter, saying “With the sad news about Henry Cavill’s Superman role today, it’s nice that we got a little opportunity to show our appreciation for the great passion and enthusiasm Henry showed for The Witcher.”
