Never underestimate the ingenuity of a gamer with too much talent and too few boundaries. The incredible Super Louis 64, known for his ridiculous custom video game controllers, has just put the finishing touches on a custom controller designed for 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake – and yes, it’s a Buster Sword.
With motion-activated swinging, guarding and ability activation (plus on-grip button controllers to make the game properly playable), Super Louis 64’s Buster Sword controller looks mighty impressive, and also mighty hefty. It’s reportedly fully functional on both PC and PS5.
You can see a bit of the Buster Sword controller in action in the video below on Twitter, but a full video should be coming in the next day or so as well:
It's done, #FF7R is now fully playable with an actual BUSTER SWORD! I just ironed out the last bug dealing with the guarding issue from the prototype.
Full vid after the weekend but I'm extremely proud of this build. I built my own parts and it works on PC & PS5 LETS GOOOOO pic.twitter.com/3OSatBfzgy

Plenty of Final Fantasy news lately, with the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters just announced for PS4 and Switch, and the Final Fantasy XVI Collector’s Edition being briefly available at EB Games for Level 5 members exclusively.
