Phasmophobia’s Console Release Has Been Delayed Because Of An Office Fire

The upside is October is a far spookier month for release.

Kinetic Games, the folks behind the 4-player online co-op psychological horror hit, Phasmophobia, have revealed that their plans to release a version of the game for PS5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X|S in August have been interrupted by the outbreak of a fire in the building where the studio keeps its office.

The statement shared to social media also reveals that development issues helped contribute to the delay, and reads, “Dear Phasmopobia community, first and foremost, we’d like to thank you all for your support and that you are just as excited as we are for the console release.

“Due to a recent fire incident in our office building, and unpredicted development issues, our ability to test and develop has been significantly impacted. After careful consideration, we have made the tough decision to delay the console release, initially set for August, while we get everything sorted. We are now aiming for a special launch during the week leading up to Halloween this October.”

Phasmophobia first launched into Early Access on PC in September 2020, where it quickly became one of Twitch’s top ten watched games and Steam’s global best-seller for several weeks. Kinetic Games just launched a major v0.9 update for the game, titled Ascension, which adds a brand-new levelling system and a new Training mode alongside a laundry list of fixes, changes and improvements.
