Play as the whole gang!

Alongside pre-orders going live as of now, PlayStation and Naughty Dog have dropped a trailer for the upcoming The Last of Us Part II Remastered’s brand-new No Return mode, which is a run-based survival mode that allows players to put their skills to the test as a number of never-before-playable characters.

Take a look:

“Experience The Last of Us Part II Remastered’s deep combat via an entirely new single-player mode,” reads the new trailer’s summary of No Return.

“Survive as long as you can in each run, as you choose your path through a series of randomized encounters featuring different foes and memorable locations from throughout Part II, all culminating in tense boss battles. Unique gameplay modifiers can offer new and unexpected challenges as you fight to succeed – and survive – in a host of different encounter types. Play as Ellie, Abby, and a variety of unlockable characters, including never-before-playable characters like Dina, Jesse, Lev, and Tommy and more, each with unique traits to offer a variety of playstyles, and unlock skins for them as you progress to use in the mode.”

Thanks to this new trailer we now know that No Return will feature 10 playable characters (at least initially) which will be:

  • Ellie
  • Dina
  • Jesse
  • Tommy
  • Joel
  • Abby
  • Lev

There’s also increased texture quality, level-of-detail improvements, better shadows, animations and more along with improved loading times and DualSense features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Along with No Return, a Guitar Free Play mode will be available as well as three “Lost Levels” featuring a look at unfinished content previously cut from the game.
