Sony Drove A Car Using A PS5 DualSense To Show Off Its New Mobility Tech

Is that allowed?

During its CES 2024 conference, Sony debuted a number of new technologies and while any news on new PlayStation hardware was sadly missing that didn’t stop at least one PlayStation device from making an appearance during an entirely different segment.

Showing off its collaboration with Honda, Sony’s new AFEELA mobility software was talked about at length on stage with a specific focus on both AI-powered technology and creative technology. As a fun intro these concepts, President and COO of Sony Honda Mobility Izumi Kawanishi drive a vehicle onto the stage with nothing but a PlayStation DualSense controller.

Of course, Kawanishi was quick to point out that we likely won’t actually be driving cars using DualSense controllers in the future, but it was a neat gag nonetheless. More directly, Sony revealed it’s working on “gaming and entertainment” as part of the Sony Honda Mobility future including Unreal Engine 5 support, a collaboration with Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony Digital and plenty of other fun stuff.
