Helldivers 2 Has Had Another Patch And A Massive Boost To Player Capacity

More divers means more Managed Democracy!

Arrowhead Game Studios has issued yet another small update to Helldivers 2 as it works hard to keep the massively-popular new co-op shooter stable under the weight of hundreds of thousands of eager players.

Update Version 1.000.11 mostly fixes crashes and other issues triggered in specific circumstances while improvement backend network communications, but also adds the crucial new feature of having idle players kicked from the game after 15 minutes of inactivity – something that will hopefully stomp the issue of players staying logged in and AFK for fear of the servers being full when they return.

Alongside the update, Arrowhead’s CEO Johan Pilestedt revealed on X that the studio has updated the max concurrent player cap to 700,000. Previously it was set at 450,000 while the team attempted to manage server stability but this should relieve some of the pressure of getting divers in their pods and on planetary soil.

Pilestedt admitted that the actual numbers of incoming players are likely to reach that cap anyway, but assured that wait times will be a lot more bearable and that final improvements are coming ahead of what will no doubt be another busy weekend.

We recently score Helldivers 2 a 9/10 in our review, with Edward saying, “Helldivers 2 is a masterstroke, a sensational sequel to one of my favourite games and an absolute must play for people who enjoy simple, cinematic, and irreverent fun. The shift in perspective, the upgraded graphics and sound design, and the hard lean into satirical humour have launched it easily into one of my favourite games of 2024.
