Xbox Wants To Start Releasing At Least One First Party Game Every Quarter

It’s no secret at this point that as far as first-party exclusives go, there hasn’t been a lot to play on the Xbox Series X, but Xbox says that this is something that is set to change.

We got to watch a high-level Xbox briefing ahead of the Xbox + Bethesda press conference involving the Heads and VPs of Xbox’s core business and it was very clear that despite now owning 23 studios, they want to increase their output of first-party Xbox games primarily for the Xbox Game Pass business.

Their plan going forward is to try and release at least one major first-party each game quarter. Whilst they didn’t specify when this plan was set to be put into motion, it’s fairly likely that they were referring to this upcoming quarter and onwards.

“In terms of the overall line-up, we want to get to a point of releasing a new game every quarter… we know that a thriving entertainment service needs a consistent and exciting flow of new content. So our portfolio will continue to grow as our service grows.” said Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios.

No doubt this will start with Xbox + Bethesda’s showcase early on Monday morning where we’ll hopefully get dates for Microsoft Flight Simulator for Xbox Series X and Halo: Infinite. You can find all of the Aussie E3 times right HERE.

Speaking further about how Xbox plans to deliver this, they spoke about working with indie developers to build first-party exclusives (such as Microsoft Flight Simulator) but also putting more resources into bringing diverse voices into their games and teams.
