During today’s Xbox Partner Preview Showcase, RGG Studio revealed a brand-new subgame coming to next year’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that’ll let players restore and beautify their own island, Animal Crossing-style, and turn it into a thriving island resort.
Dubbed Dondoko Island, it looks to be a total getaway from the main story where players can clean up, fish, catch bugs, craft and place new furniture (complete with hilarious animations) and plenty of other cosy sim goodies. It looks shockingly robust, with the below trailer showing the player placing huge statues and buildings on their island, chatting and giving gifts to tourists, and generating money and fame through a full-on resort management simulation. There’s even what looks like real-time combat with Ichiban’s trusty bat.

According to an interview on Xbox Wire with RGG Studio’s Chief Producer, Hiroyuki Sakamoto, the Dondoko Island game will open up partway into the main Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth story and will be independent of the main game so players can engage with it at their leisure.
