Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Has Topped The First Movie As The Top-Grossing Video Game Adaptation Of All Time

That's a lotta rings!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the recently-released sequel to 2020’s wildly successful Sonic the Hedgehog film, has just broken box office records to be the top-grossing video game adaptation of all time – a title previously held by its predecessor.

SEGA announced the achievement, stating that the film has recorded a global box office gross of USD $331.64 million, beating out the first Sonic the Hedgehog’s USD $319.71 million. That’s without the sequel having been released in Japan yet either, it’s set to launch there on August 19.
