The Game Awards 2023 Has Been Confirmed For December

Hopefully no more stage crashers.

Right near the pointy end of this morning’s Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 showcase, host Geoff Keighley confirmed that (somewhat unsurprisingly) The Game Awards will be returning once again this year.

When Is The Game Awards 2023?

The Game Awards 2023 will be held on December 7th at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Outside of the date, we don’t know much else just yet around timing, ticket purchases or further details but these will no doubt be coming soon.

Last year’s The Game Awards saw Elden Ring take home the coveted Game of the Year accolade, a moment which was slightly soured by a stage invader – an act that was disappointingly repeated this morning at Opening Night Live. We also got some huge announcements and trailers for games like Death Stranding 2, Hades 2, Judas and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.

With just as many of last year’s featured titles still waiting in the wings as those that have been released since, there’s no doubt plenty to be excited for in the 2023 iteration of The Game Awards.

Everything Announced At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023

If you missed this morning’s stacked two-hour Opening Night Live showcase you can read our rundown of every trailer and announcement right here, but some of the highlights include the first proper look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign gameplay, release dates for a number of games including Sonic Superstars and Tekken 8, news on Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC and 2.0 update and the reveal of Little Nightmares 3.
