It Looks Like A MultiVersus Release Announcement Could Be Coming Very Soon

Zoinks!

MultiVersus, the widely-enjoyed free-to-play platform fighter that was previously in a lengthy open beta before being put on ice in the middle of last year, is expected to make a return as a finished product in the near or distant future, and it sounds like some news might be on the way.

The official MultiVersus account on X has suddenly sprung back to life after having posted nothing since June 2023, where it reminded folks of its impending and indefinite hiatus, signalling that it has something to say with the simple message, “*taps mic* testing, testing, 1, 2, 3”

It comes right as McDonald’s is preparing to drop a range of MultiVersus collectibles in its Happy Meals in its stores globally, including here in Australia, which makes the timing for an announcement or even a stealth release of the full game seem very plausible.

With a new Xbox Partner Preview showcase also happening tomorrow, there’s every chance we could learn something there.

When the open beta was shut down last year, the team at Player First Games said it planned to be back and better than ever with new content, features, modes and more when the game returns this year and will ensure that players’ progress and content from the open beta carry over.

Those with the game in their collection are still able to download and play it in an offline capacity, with all previously-locked content temporarily unlocked while the game is in shutdown. Once it returns, existing player inventories will be restored to what they were prior to the closure.
