Nintendo has aired the first Indie World Direct presentation for 2023, bringing with it 20 minutes of news and announcements for a ton of great indie games and content headed to the Nintendo Switch.
You can watch the full thing here, or read on for a very brief rundown of what was shown off:
Mineko’s Night Market
This one’s been a while coming, but now it finally has a release date! The narrative adventure sim sees you befriend townfolk, do jobs, adventure and more all with the goal of have a fabulous time at the Night Market to blow off steam and offload your riches. It’s coming September 26th, 2023!
My Time At Sandrock
A new entry in the My Time series, My Time at Sandrock is a life sim with a ton of customisation and possibilities as you work to restore Sandrock, venture into ruins, make new friends and contend with monsters in melee combat. Coming Winter 2023.
PlateUp!
The popular roguelite cooking sim is coming to Switch! Cook and serve your dishes, design and decorate your restaurants, and expand your culinary kingdom with new unlocks, abilities and dishes in procedurally-generated locations. This one’s out in October 2023.
Quilts & Cats of Calico
An adaptation of the board game Calico, this looks like an adorably cosy way to spend board game night in front of the TV. I’m not going to pretend to understand what the rules are here but it looks incredibly adorable – you can put hats on the cats, so I’m sold. Coming Spring 2023.
Rift of the NecroDancer
Rift of the NecroDancer is the new spin-off that shakes things up with lane-based rhythm combat and minigames. Still no release date for this one but it’s coming this year.
A Little to the Left: Cupboards and Drawers DLC.
Twenty-five new puzzles are coming to this charming and cosy little puzzle game, coming to Switch in June.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Puzzlers Pack
More content is coming to Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon with new hats, items and challenges, all for free this Autumn in a new Puzzlers Pack!
Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith Update
Dozens of new items, relics and enemies. Remixed dungeons. New buildings and followers and a whole new unlockable quest and three new modes. It’s all free as well!
Animal Well
I can’t wait for this one. An atmospheric, pixelated and open-ended adventure set in a labyrinth full of interesting creatures to interact with in both friendly and non-friendly ways. It’s coming in early 2024.
Crime O’Clock
A puzzle exploration game with over 40 cases to solve across time and space. It looks like a huge Where’s Wally but across time and way more stressful to my brain. This one’s out June 30th, 2023.
Teslagrad 2
Electromagnetic-powered puzzle platforming in Scandinavian-inspired environments full of fearsome beasts. A remaster of the original Teslagrad is also coming, and both are out today!
Shadows Over Loathing
The West of Loathing-universe slapstick adventure-RPG is headed to Switch. Think the Ubisoft South Park games but simultaneously more complex and way more dumb. Digital is out today, with a physical version coming later.
Blasphemous II
The popular tough-as-nails sidescrolling action platformer is getting a sequel in Winter 2023. Looks pixel-ly and hot.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals
The long-awaited Oxenfree sequel is finally arriving on July 12th, looking every bit as unnerving and gorgeous as the original. Super keen for this one.

A bunch more games arrived in a montage at the end, no Silksong though 🙁
