The Pokémon Company and Tokyo TV have revealed that it’s set to debut a new live-action Pokémon television series in Japan this October, although that comes with the caveat that it’s a drama series set in the real world as opposed to a live-action take on the world of Pokémon itself.
The show’s title can be roughly translated into “Fill Your Pocket With Adventure,” according to a quick machine translation via Google, and will focus on a woman named Madoka Agaki (played by Nanase Nishino) who moves to Tokyo for a new job and winds up becoming obsessed with a copy of Pokémon Red that her mother gives her as a graduation present.
The series starts airing on October 19th in Japan, and so far there’s been no indication that it will receive any kind of wider global release.

Another Pokémon series that is slated for a global release and marks something a bit different from the usual anime fare is Pokémon Concierge, a new stop-motion animated series coming to Netflix that was revealed back in February as part of a Pokémon Presents presentation.
Pokemon Concierge is set to debut this December.
