A New Alien Game Could Be On The Way

Fans of Alien: Isolation have long craved a direct sequel to it. Its brand of horror, atmosphere and world-building were all intoxicating in equal measure, and it appears that their wishes might finally be coming true.

The official feed for Alien, which encompasses everything Alien across all mediums, has gone ahead and drip-fed a couple of little cryptic teasers, all relating to Amanda Ripley. Amanda, of course, is the hero of Alien: Isolation and daughter of Ellen Ripley, portrayed by the powerhouse Sigourney Weaver throughout the films.

Whether this is the rumoured Alien: Blackout that has apparently been in development remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an indication that something based in the Alien: Isolation timeframe is being produced. Though, the #ReadPlayWatch hashtag is a curious inclusion. Some are speculating that this Amanda Ripley project could, indeed, be an interactive film not too dissimilar from the recent Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which would certainly draw the ire of gamers wishing for a sequel.

Others note that the hashtag could just relate to multiple projects Fox are planning in the Alien universe this year. It’s entirely possible we could see a book, a game and another film enter the series this year, which would explain the hashtag.

Of course, this is all speculation and all we can do for now is wait and hope that a sequel for Alien: Isolation might be on the way.
