Final Fantasy XIV’s Next Major Expansion Has Been Revealed Along With A Graphical Overhaul

Square Enix and Creative Business Unit 3 have lifted the lid on the next major expansion for acclaimed MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s a tropical adventure titled Dawntrail.

The new expansion is set to introduce a heap of new content including the New World of Tural to explore along with new Allied Tribes to meet, new jobs and gear and an increased level cap. Here are just some of the features that Square Enix has announced are coming to Final Fantasy XIV players in the Dawntrail expansion, which launches in Winter next year (via the Square Enix website):

  • Journey to the New World, Tural, and its capital, Tuliyollal
  • Explore new areas, including the mountainous Urqopacha and the forest of Yak T’el
  • New Allied Tribes, including the diminutive Pelupelu who wear distinctive masks and inhabit Urqopacha
  • Level Cap increase from 90 to 100
  • Multiple New Jobs
  • Core Battle Content including FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts and Sidequests
  • New Dungeons
  • New Threats, including Valigarmanda
  • Duty Support Update
  • New Gear and Recipes
  • Expansive New Lifestyle Content
  • New Variant Dungeons, Alliance Raid, 8-Player Raid and Ultimate Raid
  • PvP Update
  • Ongoing Content Updates, including a Blue Mage Update, Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures, New Plans for Deep Dungeons and a Gold Saucer Update

The Dawntrail expansion will introduce the game’s first graphical update for both character and world visuals, with upgrades including the following:

  • Improvements to screen-wide aesthetic appeal
  • Higher resolution textures and shadows
  • Improved material qualities

On top of revealing the new Dawntrail expansion, Square Enix also announced that Final Fantasy XIV is finally set to launch on Xbox consoles with an Xbox Series X|S version planned before the new expansion launches next year. An expanded free trial for the game is also on the way within the next few months that adds the Stormblood expansion to the current base game and Heavensward offering, and an increased level cap of 70, for new players to jump in and play to their heart’s content.
