Forspoken Will Take Up A Decent Chunk Of Your PS5 Storage

It's nearly cuffing season.

Forspoken is nearly here. After first being introduced to the world as Project Athia back in 2020, Square Enix and Luminous Productions’ open-world action RPG is finally making its way to PS5 and PC on January 24th.

With the release date impending, it’s been revealed by PlayStation Store scraper and Twitter account, PlayStation Game Size, that pre-load will begin on January 22. The game’s initial file size has also been detailed, and it weighs in at a fairly hefty 87GB on PS5.

That’s as far as the 1.000.001 version of the game is concerned at least, so day one patches or other changes could affect it between now and launch, but it’s a pretty good indication of how much space you’ll need to clear on your console’s SSD ahead of time.

If you’re on the fence about the game itself, a free demo designed to acclimate players to Forspoken’s unique spellcasting combat and magical parkour is available on the PlayStation Store right here.

We also recently ran an extensive hands-on preview of the game, as well as an interview with key members of the team at Luminous.

Forspoken releases on January 24th for PS5 and PC. Amazon has the cheapest pre-order at $79.99 with free shipping.

Stuck for storage? The PS5-compatible Samsung 980 Pro SSD can be had for as low as $181 at Amazon for an added 1TB of internal storage.
