A New Helldivers 2 Update Has Dropped On PS5 And PC And Here’s What It Fixes

Democracy, managed.

Update: The newest update for Helldivers 2 has now rolled out to PS5 and PC players, and addresses some issues that players have been having with the game. While it’s not quite the sweeping fix to matchmaking and server issues that many were hoping for, hopefully it smooths out the experience a little ahead of a bigger update in the near future.

The patch notes can be found below:

Original: Arrowhead Game Studios is continuing to push through some early struggles with the runaway success of Helldivers 2, a game that’s proving so popular the studio is stuck playing catch-up with concurrent player counts and server load.

In a message to users on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, lead producer Alex Bolle has assured players that an update is on the way for both PS5 and PC that will address the game’s “most serious problems” such as login and matchmaking issues as well as server load. The update looks to be dropping at some point over the next 24 hours, which is great news for those hanging to join the fight for Managed Democracy but still fighting to enlist.

The message from Bolle reads:

“Hello there Helldivers!

“We have improvements rolling out this week focused on the most serious problems in the game: login, matchmaking, and server load. You will see one update for PC and PS5 tomorrow, though please keep in mind that no single update will solve all the issues. Rather, we will be making continuous improvements over the days and weeks to come.

“We’re all working hard to make sure that the game is a stable place to spread Managed Democracy to every planet in the galaxy.”

Helldivers 2 continues to go absolutely ballistic across PS5 and PC, with concurrent player counts on Steam reaching an all-time high of 411,359 on Steam, putting it above Grand Theft Auto V and Destiny 2 – a number that would likely be higher were servers operating as well as they should be.

We’ve still got a review cooking for Helldivers 2, although the ongoing server issues have meant it’s not coming along as quickly as we’d like. In the meantime, you can read some early thoughts of my own around how the game’s sense of humour, meaningful live service elements and respectful approach to monetisation have helped propel it to the massive success that it is.
