Xbox Has Been Surveying Users About A Possible Cheaper Game Pass Tier Supported By Ads

And with later access to first-party launches.

Microsoft has seemingly been quizzing users on the possibility of introducing new, cheaper Xbox Game Pass tiers, if a survey screenshot posted to ResetEra over the weekend (and reported by Windows Central) is to be believed.

The survey asked for opinions on a new, suggested tier of Xbox Game Pass that would be significantly cheaper (as low as around $5 per month) but would lock first-party game releases behind a six month delay as well as ask users to view advertisements before playing.

It’s worth reiterating that products suggested in a questionnaire like this would purely be for research purposes, to gauge how users feel about certain price points or features, but it’s definitely interesting to see what sorts of concessions Xbox might consider making in order to pull more users onto the Game Pass service.

“Day One” Xbox title releases are a big drawcard for Game Pass and one that sets it apart from most other video game subscription models, but with actual releases few and far between in recent years it could make sense to portion the benefit off to power users.
