Starfield Preloading Reportedly Starts This Week So Aussies Might Have It Downloaded By September

Fibre to the galaxy.

It’s no secret that Starfield is going to be a chunky game when it comes to its install size, I mean all those planets and sandwiches have gotta go somewhere, right? At a cool 125GB, it’s certainly not the worst around for storage footprint (looking at you, every modern Call of Duty), but it’s big enough to give pause to fans in certain parts of the world pause.

When Does Starfield Preload Start?

The good news is, whether you happen to have terrible, terrible internet or just enjoy being prepared, pre-loading for Bethesda’s next masterpiece RPG appears to be kicking off relatively soon – and well ahead of the game’s launch date. That’s according to retailers like Amazon, at least, where pre-orders for a combo of the sexy new 1TB Xbox Series S console packaged with a digital download of the game have stated that the pre-load date for Starfield is in just a few days on August 9th.

If accurate, it’s a generous 3-4 weeks lead time to ensure you’ll be able to enjoy Starfield the moment it’s available, whether you’re getting the standard release for a September 6th launch or investing in the various special editions and jumping in five days early on September 1st. It’s a better situation that Baldur’s Gate 3 fans found themselves in just last week with a similarly-sized install and absolutely no preload option at all.
