In an interview on Between the Sheets, the actress who portrays Ellie in The Last of Us, Ashley Johnson might have very near let slip the expected release date for the much-anticipated sequel.

When asked near the closure of the hour-long discussion, at the 1:07:00 mark for those playing at home, about the release date for The Last of Us 2, after some careful thought Johnson goes to reply with a word that starts an awful lot like February.
Fortunately for Johnson, Naughty Dog’s snipers are called off as the interviewer himself, having clearly forgotten his own line of questioning, cuts her off before she can properly answer.
This is very much in line with something Jason Schreier tweeted last month after Death Stranding’s release date of November was revealed, as he suggested Naughty Dog’s sequel was perhaps meant to share the window before being bumped to early 2020.
Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release. The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4 https://t.co/wh6kimA73b

Of course, this is unconfirmed and we don’t expect Sony or Naughty Dog will comment on this before the time is right.
If this release date happens to be accurate we expect Sony might take the opportunity to formally reveal it at their PlayStation Experience, or PSX, event this year, if it returns. If not there, then perhaps at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards is where we’ll be treated to the official word.
