Lego Donkey Kong Tree House Expansion Kit

Here’s Our First Look At The New LEGO Donkey Kong Tree House Expansion Kit

DK! Donkey Kong is here!

UPDATE: It was revealed earlier this week that several LEGO Donkey Kong sets were on the way including Donkey Kong, Cranky Kong, Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong and Funky Kong, but we now have our first look at the Donkey Kong Tree House Expansion Kit.

It’ll cost $95 AUD when it releases on August 1st and the 555 piece set will include Donkey Kong as well as Cranky Kong. You’ll need to have the Mario, Peach or Luigi Starter Kit as well, and each of them can ride on Donkey Kong’s back.

You can find the product listing and pre-order HERE.

LEGO Donkey Kong Set

LEGO has taken to social media to further tease the Donkey Kong sets it announced last month, showing off some quick shots of the Kongs we’ll be seeing in LEGO form in the near future.

As we previously reported, the new Donkey Kong range is an addition to the existing LEGO Super Mario world, which is geared more towards play and includes more interactive sets with bigger representations of the characters as opposed to the traditional minifigures.

Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong and Funky Kong all feature in the teaser, and look well-realised in the blocky, chunky format of the LEGO Super Mario sets.

Take a look at the teaser below:

There’s still no information on how many LEGO Donkey Kong sets will be released, or how much any of it will cost, but we’ll be keeping an eye out and will update as we find out more.

Another brand new LEGO Super Mario expansion set, Dry Bowser’s Castle, will also be coming on August 1st. It’s a 1,321 piece set that will cost $169.99 AUD and can be pre-ordered now.

And in other gaming-related LEGO news, the company also recently revealed a new line of Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO sets.

Similar to the LEGO Super Mario sets, these are more geared towards active play than display. The core component is the idea of Sonic’s Speed Sphere, which can be launched across the built LEGO courses, which include things like loops and rings in the bigger Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge set.

The sets range in price from $52.99 to $169.99 and feature Sonic, Robotnik, Tails, Amy and plenty of other recognisable components. They’re all listed on the LEGO website now with sale starting on August 1st, 2023:
