Fortnite Festival’s Guitar Controller Support Has Arrived And More Instruments Look To Be On The Way

The glory days are returning.

Fortnite Festival Season 3 has kicked off, and with it the long-awaited plastic guitar controller support that’s set to make legacy RockBand 4 guitars relevant again as well as creating the best possible use case for PDP’s soon-to-be released The Riffmaster wireless guitar controller for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

The newest update landed today, and over on the official Fortnite blog you can now find a chart featuring guitar compatibility across multiple models and platforms, including The Riffmaster:

Perhaps even more exciting, the website teases “more instrument controller news” to be announced in the future, implying we may see the full band setup return before long. How exciting.

Backing up the new guitar support, songs in Fortnite Festival now have “Pro Lead” and “Pro Bass” parts with hammer-on and pull-off notes as well as coloured notes for each lane to match up with the physical guitar buttons. Whammy bar support is only visual at this stage, and won’t affect scores, but the feature set will naturally be continually worked on as time goes on.

I’ve had The Riffmaster for a little while now, and you can read my full review of it right here. In it, I said, “The Riffmaster might seem niche with the glory days of plastic instruments far behind us, but for those that are still committed – or looking forward to support in Fortnite Festival – it’s a superbly well-designed and performant bit of kit that has a heap of potential. If you can stomach the $200 ticket price, you’re in for a heck of a show.”

You can still pre-order The Riffmaster in Aussie stores now, including from the below:
