Update: On top of last month’s comics, SEGA has now also released a six-minute animated prologue for Sonic Frontiers, titled Divergence and featuring none other than Knuckles the Echidna. Watching the short, you’ll be able to understand how it is that Knuckles came to be involved in the Sonic Frontiers adventure – something we discovered across both of our previews.
SEGA and Sonic Team have released both parts of a two-part prologue comic introducing the narrative in Sonic Frontiers.
Titled “Convergence”, the comic is short and sweet, but it’s sure to be essential reading for anyone who’s interested in jumping into Sonic Frontiers as it sets up some crucial backstory as to why Sonic, Tails and Amy have travelled to the Starfall Islands – the setting for the game – and what might await them there.
The studio has previously stated that it planned to introduce Sonic Frontiers’ story through media outside of the game itself, and this is part of that effort. You can read both parts of the comic just below:

We recently went hands-on with the game, saying “Sonic Frontiers has at the very least proved its concept and makes for an approachable, light on its feet adventure that may just take 2022 entirely by surprise after all”, as well as interviewed the Head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka.
Sonic Frontiers releases on November 8th, 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
