This Week’s The Last Of Us Episode Broke Viewership Records Again

Huge numbers.

HBO has announced that the eighth episode of its TV adaptation of The Last of Us has once again broken viewership records, pulling in 8.1 million sets of eyeballs for its premiere. For comparison’s sake, the very first episode debuted to 4.7 million viewers, so this week’s has come close to doubling that number.

Titled When We Are In Need, the episode is the second-last for the series with the finale airing next Monday at 1PM AEDT.

HBO says that The Last of Us has been the top title across HBO Max for the entire eight weeks it’s been airing, with the first five episodes nearing 30 million viewers across all platforms.

You can check out a sneak preview of the finale below (if you’re so inclined):

You can watch The Last of Us on Foxtel and Binge. Head here to see the full series schedule.

The show was also just renewed for a second season after drawing these record-breaking numbers for HBO, and our latest peek into the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer game has us believing it could be a two-player cooperative experience.
