Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 Has Been Delayed

What's another few months right?

Embracer has announced that Dead Island 2 has been delayed and will no longer release on February 3rd. The game will now release almost three months later on April 28th, 2023.

In its latest earnings report, Embracer spoke about the delay saying “The reduced forecast for the financial year 2022/23 reflects a mixed reception to some of the key second quarter PC/console releases, estimated to impact catalog sales in the coming quarters, shifts in the PC/console pipeline, including Dead Island 2, now planned for release April 28”.

Interestingly enough, the company has also revealed that Violition, the studio behind Saints Row will now shift to be under Gearbox. The company has acknowledged its critical divisiveness, but said that it met sales expectations.

“Financially, Saints Row has performed in line with management expectations in the quarter. Going forward, Volition will transition to become part of Gearbox which has all the tools, including an experienced management team in the US, to create future success at Volition. This is the first internal group transfer where we transfer a major studio between operative groups, but it is not necessarily the last.”

Dead Island 2 is now set to launch on April 28th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The cheapest copy is $74.90 for the regular edition and $144 for the Collector’s Edition.
