Twisted Metal’s New Trailer Has Zero Cars But It Does Have Sweet Tooth Singing Thong Song

Girl, I know you wanna show, those car-ca-car-car-cars!

During today’s Summer Game Fest showcase, which heavily featured PlayStation content despite a PlayStation Showcase having just happened, a new trailer for the streaming television adaptation of Twisted Metal debuted that introduces main character John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Sweet Tooth (Samoa Joe/Will Arnett) by way of an altercation between the two in a casino that winds up with the pair duetting a bit of Sisqó’s 1999 classic, Thong Song. Absolutely no cars are shown in this trailer for a show about people driving cars at each other until one or more of them die.

The series will feature Anthony Mackie, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church and Neve Campbell and premieres its 10-episode run on Peacock in the US on July 27th. For Aussies, it’ll be coming to Stan. I honestly have no idea whether this is going to be good, so-bad-it’s-good or just plain bad, but I’m absolutely going to be subjecting myself to it to find out.

You can watch the new trailer just below:

TWISTED METAL, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
